Horus Heresy Rumours

There’s a rumour that GW will be making a Horus Heresy game. More here on BOLS.

OH GOD PLEASE BE TRUE!

New Forge World 40k stuff

Forge World have just put up these awesome 40k things on their site. The Deimos-Pattern Predator Executioner.

I’m not a fan of the Deimos-Pattern hull, but the rules are sweet! (found here -> ) A Predator with a Plasma Destroyer or a Heavy Conversion beamer. With the HCB the Predator would be an excellent long-range tank. My favourite part or the model are the cool sponsons, drum-fed Heavy Bolters similar to the Contemptor Dreadnought ones. Unfortunately, the kit is quite expensive at £46.

The second new product is a pack of 2 Space Marine Apothecaries, one in MKII armour and one in MKIV.
They are quite characterful models, and have excellent details. I especially like the torso of the MKIV Marine. The kit costs £20.

Both kits are available for pre-order for despatch on the 27th of April.

Stormeagle on general release

Forgeworld have announced the release date for their Stormeagle gunship. The model is currently available to preorder here, for dispatch on the 27th of April, at the price of £80, which isn’t bad. The model is also compatible with Forgeworld’s range of Land Raider doors, for that personalised look.
They have also produced experimental rules, which can be found here.

More pictures can be found on it’s page on the Forgeworld site.
Forgeworld have also produced a video, with suitably dramatic music and some nice, if dark, shots of the model, but is overall a bit meh.

Forge World Live

It’s Forge World Live tomorrow (Sunday 1st April) and I’m intensely jealous of the lucky few people I know who are going, because they can buy these awesome new Forge World kits before their actual release.

First, the Tartaros Pattern Terminators, which many of you will already have seen.

I’m not too worried about missing out on these, because I’ve just preordered mine off the FW website 🙂

However, the Space Marine Stormeagle is limited to buy at the event. It’s not a bad price for a largish FW kit at £80.

Say hello to the boxiest flyer ever! Much of the online wargaming community thinks that this model is a hoax for some reason, another elaborate April Fool’s joke from Games Workshop. Other than it looking like and extended Stormraven, and the day of the event coinciding with April Fool’s Day, I personally see no reason to think this.

Now I just have to sit back and be proven wrong. Have fun at FW Live if you’re going!

The Real Banner

My replacement banner for my Ultramarines Venerable Dreadnought from Forge World arrived today! I’m rather pleased with it, seeing as I was disappointed last time. (see The “Banner”)

Once again, it was very well packaged, which was actually suitable this time, because they banner is a much larger part.

I’m going to repaint my Dread to bring it up to my current standard, to go with the new banner. Small amount of cleaning up to do, removal of flash etc. but thank you Forgeworld!

Happy birthday, 40k!

Unfortunately, I missed out on the 40k 25th birthday celebrations because of damned Saturday morning school followed by band practice. I had 20 minutes at lunch to go and try to but the limited edition Crimson Fists captain, and arrived at GW York not one, not two, but 3 and a quarter hours after they had sold their last one at 10:20am, only twenty minutes after the doors had opened! Ridiculous! There occurred my only recorded incident of gaming-rage-induced comfort eating. GW York is handily located right next door to a bakery.
Om nom nom nom.

After expressing my rage on Twitter, I was contacted by @Jipin of Aurora Gaming UK, who told me there was a spare 25th anniversary model in his webstore, and that he’d put up the listing for me! Now that’s customer service! The model arrived this morning, and payment was easy enough. I’ll have to buy stuff from him more often! Thank you!

Which is better than I can say about Forgeworld. They still haven’t sorted out my replacement banner…

The “Banner”

I recently asked Forgeworld if they would replace the banner from my Ultramarines Venerable Dreadnought (broken in half by a friends clumsy little brother), and after about a week, the reply was “yes”.

Well, it would in fact seem, that after about 3 weeks, that Forgeworld will not replace my broken banner, but will instead replace my intact smoke-launcher. Yay.

It was very well packaged for a tiny piece of resin.

I don’t want to be harsh to the guys at Forgeworld, because they’re very good when they get things right, but it is a sad day indeed that the very suppliers of the game are unfamiliar enough with the lore to not be able to distinguish a banner from a smoke launcher.

On the bright side, I’m going to use this box and bubble wrap to send my Cadian command squad to Japan to be painted by Ichiban Painting. So there. The packaging probably cost more than the actual part! Customer unsatisfied.
